James A. Simon

Dr. Simon is a D.C.-based physician providing patient-focused care for women across the reproductive life cycle, from adolescence to childbirth, and through the menopause transition.

Dr. James A. Simon is a Washington, D.C.-based physician providing patient-focused care for women across the reproductive life cycle, from adolescence to childbirth, and through the menopause transition in his private practice: IntimMedicine Specialists (www.IntimMedicine.com). His unique approach to care encourages women to be a part of their own wellness, disease prevention, treatment, and recovery (“You Talk, I’ll Listen, We’ll Plan Together”); and through his renowned clinical research efforts, he offers one-of-a-kind opportunities for patients to experience the latest innovations in women’s health.

Dr. Simon’s research interests include clinical management of peri- and postmenopausal women, female sexual function/dysfunction, contraception, and reproductive endocrinology. He has served as principal investigator on nearly four hundred clinical trials, research grants and scholarships in women’s health, with support from such noted institutions as the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the pharmaceutical industry.

Dr. Simon earned his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis and his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago. He completed an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at The George Washington University Hospital and a post-doctoral fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Harbor-University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. He currently serves as a clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology, and reproductive endocrinology at The George Washington University School of Medicine.

Dr. Simon’s work has been published extensively, and he is an active contributor to numerous medical and scientific periodicals with more than five hundred peer-reviewed publications. He serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Sexual Medicine, Sexual Medicine Reviews, Current Sexual Health Reports, and Menopause. In 2001, he co-authored the book “Restore Yourself: A Woman’s Guide to Reviving Her Sexual Desire and Passion for Life,” and in 2012, he was featured in the film “Hot Flash Havoc.” He is a past president of the North American Menopause Society, The Washington Gynecological Society, and The International Society for Study of Women’s Sexual Health. Dr. Simon has consistently been ranked as a top doctor, internationally, nationally and in Washington, DC, and environs.
